Defense first

Of the 22 turnovers by Kansas, most were forced on the Mountaineers’ side of the court. With Jonathan Holton (pictured) above guarding the in-bounds passer, then rushing over to double-team the point guard with a trail defender, West Virginia is able to psyche out the opposition before they can get the ball over the timeline.

After one or two passes, the ball usually ends up out of bounds. The Jayhawks made a lot of poor passes Tuesday night because of the constant pressure applied by WVU.

Rarely, was a Kansas player even open on the floor. Only Wayne Seldon, who drilled three 3-pointers, seemed to be open on a couple of occasions. That was early on. The Mountaineers then clamped down and ramped up their pressure.
