WVU football has played in Arizona four times

2016 Cactus Bowl

This year’s Mountaineers come into the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl with a 7-5 record. They are in a bowl game for the fourth time in five years under head coach Dana Holgorsen.

WVU stumbled its way to Arizona after losing to Kansas State in its final regular season game, which snapped a four-game winning streak.

Arizona State is 6-6 and disappointed in itself, too. The Sun Devils came into the season ranked No. 15 in the country.
