1998 Insight.com Bowl
With top rusher Amos Zereoue held to just 32 yards, the Mountaineers didn’t stand a chance against Missouri.
Or did they?
WVU junior quarterback Marc Bulger threw for 429 yards and four touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Tigers. Missouri came away with a 34-31 win in the Insight.com Bowl.
The Mountaineers dug themselves an early hole, trailing 14-0 early and 24-3 at halftime. WVU did have more first downs than the Tigers (27-21), but Missouri was able to average more than 16 yards per play through the air.
Its ability to move the ball efficiently canceled out the fact that Missouri fumbled three times.
