Game 28: 1969 vs. South Carolina

You may have heard of Bobby Bowden. Legendary Florida State coach, right? Well, Bowden cut his teeth at West Virginia. First as an offensive coordinator, then head coach of the Mountaineers. In the 1969 Peach Bowl, Bowden instilled a wishbone offense that caught South Carolina off guard and WVU rolled to a 14-3 victory.

Eddie Williams rushed for a then-bowl record 208 yards and earned MVP honors.

Quarterback Mike Sherwood attempted just two passes for the Mountaineers. The defense limited South Carolina to under 200 yards on total offense.
