Game 19: 2012 vs. Baylor
Welcome to the Big 12, Mountaineers. This game will forever go down in history as the contest that defense forgot. West Virginia earned a 70-63 victory over Baylor. Both teams traded blows the entire game, which was the Mountaineers first in the Big 12 Conference.
The No. 9 WVU team pulled out the win over No. 25 Baylor, thanks to the play of Geno Smith. He caught fire nationally and was actually the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy after tossing for 656 yards on 45 of 51 passing. Smith had eight touchdowns and a long toss of 87 yards.
Smith would go on to re-write the history books for the West Virginia offense before getting drafted by the New York Jets.
