As the Mountaineer Field scoreboard flashed “Perfect,” fans rushed to the field and tore down the goal posts. The West Virginia football team had completed the first undefeated regular season in program history with a 31-9 win over No. 14 Syracuse.

The No. 4 Mountaineers were in control from the start, leading 14-3 at halftime. A.B. Brown ran for 103 yards, while WVU finished with 312 yards as a team.
