Forward Mark Workman
Mark Workman is a lesser-known player in Mountaineer history, but the record books say otherwise.
He recorded 20, 30-point games in a career that spanned from 1950-52. He also had 37, 20-point games and a solid career at the free throw line going 393 of 598 from the charity stripe. He once made 17 free throws in a game.
Workman was a tenacious player down low, twice grabbing 15 offensive rebounds in a game. He had a 30-rebound performance in 1952 against Richmond, which is third all-time.
Workman has 1,553 career points and holds the single-game record for field goals made with 22 against Salem in 1951, a game where he scored 50 points.
Workman, a Logan, W.Va. native, was drafted first overall by the Milwaukee Hawks in 1952. He also played with the Philadelphia Warriors and Baltimore Bullets.
