WVU basketball is currently ranked in the Top 25 and the Mountaineers are lead by a future Hall of Fame coach in Bob Huggins. It wasn’t always that way, though.

Long known as a football school, the West Virginia basketball program has had to keep up with its gridiron mates in terms of national respectability

Of course, Jerry West, Rod Hundley and Rod Thorn put the Mountaineers on the map in the 1950s and 1960s. There’s been a handful of players that have been drafted to the NBA along the way. Then there were some dark ages, but the Mountaineers have since pulled through.
