There was a lot of fuss over the Seahawks “reaching” with the drafting of Bruce Irvin at the #15 spot. Many critics thought that Irvin, a pass rushing specialist, was not worthy of such a high pick.
Clearly those critics were wrong.
Irvin had an impressive rookie campaign with 8 sacks and really provided a balanced pass rush with fellow defensive end Chris Clemons. Now, heading into year 2, it will be interesting to see if Irvin can take the next step and evolve into a premier pass rusher.
He has already established a name for himself as a terrifying defensive end, probably due to the fact that (with his helmet on) he looks like the Predator:
