2: Darryl Talley, Super Bowls XXV, XXVI, XVII, and XVIII

No other West Virginia Mountaineer has appeared in the Super Bowl more often than Buffalo Bills defensive stalwart Darryl Talley.

Talley teamed with Bruce Smith and Cornelius Bennett to anchor the Bills defense in the 1990s.

The Buffalo Bills first appeared in Super Bowl XXV, facing the New York Giants. As we recapped earlier, the Bills were about a foot right of winning the world championship after the 1990 season.

Had the Bills won SB XXV, perhaps they could have become the team of the 1990s instead of the Dallas Cowboys. Instead, the Bills would progress through the next three Super Bowls by wider margins.

Talley would end his stellar NFL career without a Super Bowl ring, but would finish with four AFC championships and a pair of pro bowl selections.
