Well, the rumors and speculation bound regardless, but this one looks like it has legs… from the Charleston Daily Mail

"West Virginia offensive coordinator Jeff Mullen is under consideration to be the next head coach at Kent State. Athletic Director Oliver Luck said Wednesday Kent State has reached out to Mullen to discuss the opening.“They have him as one of the people they are interested in,” Luck said. “It is my understanding Jeff is in the running for that position.”RecordPub.com, the Web site for the Record Publishing company and its 14 publications in northeastern Ohio, cited a source saying Mullen has already interviewed for the job.Athletic Director Joel Nielsen said at the start of the coaching search he wanted a coach with experience in the Mid-American Conference as well as a familiarity with Ohio’s fertile recruiting landscape.Mullen was in the MAC at Ohio University in varying capacities from graduate assistant to video coordinator and ultimately a full-time offensive assistant coach from 1992-2000. He also recruits northern Ohio for the Mountaineers.Additionally, Mullen was an offensive assistant at Wake Forest when Nielsen worked as an associate A.D. there.Mullen, who doubles as WVU’s quarterbacks coach, is from Lima, Ohio, and was an All-American safety at Wittenberg (Ohio) in 1989. He played four years there and won three letters. Upon graduation, he was the head coach at Hamilton Township High, in Columbus, Ohio, in 1990.He’s in the first year of his second two-year contract with WVU and makes $225,000."

Let’s hope this happens! This seems to be the perfect fit for a very unpopular member of the WVU football coaching staff.
