The West Virginia Mountaineers are now settling for their 2026 College World Series run being the program's peak. And with the College World Series not even two full weeks in the rear view, Steve Sabins has already added several transfer portal additions to the WVU baseball roster in preparation for the 2027 campaign.

But the Mountaineers likely are not done yet, and a couple more splashy additions could still be made. And currently, the program has their eyes on a pair of Division 1 that have entered the portal who could add significant experience to WVU's roster next year.

Titan Kamaka - Mercer

Kamaka has used the previous our seasons of eligibility allowed, and given the wording of the new eligibility rule change this summer, he'd likely need some sort of legal challenge to make him eligible. However, reports indicate that the Mountaineers are in conversations with Kamaka, so he must see some sort of pathway to a fifth season.

If this comes to frutition, Kamaka could fill a major gap in the infield at shortstop following Brodie Kresser's graduation and Zahir Barjam entering the portal. He also provides the type of big bat to the lineup that Sabins loves, slashing .394/.475/.631 and recording 45 RBI. He was named a First-Team All-Southern Conference selection for his performance.

Landon Stump - UCLA

Stump just finished his third season of college baseball, which means he has two season of eligibility remaining under the new 5-for-5 rules. He brings three seasons of Big Ten starting experience, registering 42 starts on the mound over the past three years for the Bruins. Last season, he posted a 4.12 ERA in 54.2 innings of work.

This one seems to be less likely of a possibility, as reporting indicates that the Mountaineers are in play, but it is more likely he ends up with an SEC program. However, this would be a major add to the pitching staff, and Sabins should make as much of a play as possible to make this addition.
