With the regular season behind them, the WVU baseball team is gearing up for a deep run in the Big 12 Championship.

West Virginia University will kick-off the 2017 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship Wednesday morning against No. 5 seed Baylor; opening pitch is scheduled for 9 a..m., all games Central time.

Here’s a look at the entire bracket.

Coach Randy Mazey’s guided the ‘Eers to a 32-22 record, and an even 12-12 mark in Big 12 play. On the final weekend of the regular season, WVU was only able to steal one game from the Texas Longhorns, dropping two of three contests in Austin.

According to the latest power rankings at HeartlandCollegeSports.com though, the Mountaineers come in at third.

“There’s a reason I call this team ‘The Nomads,'” claims Cameron Brock. “They are road warriors and they took a game in Austin, which isn’t easy to do. Texas entered the series with a 25-7 home record.”

So you’re telling me there’s a chance..

The Baylor Bears (34-19, 12-12) head into Wednesday’s battle after dropping two of three on the final weekend as well.

The ‘Eers opened up conference play in the regular season against the Bears, so it’s fitting their first test in the Championship will be against them.

Traveling to Waco, Texas in mid-March, WVU was prepping for a battle with a 15-2 ball club. After a 7-1 victory in the first game, the ‘Eers put the country on notice: we’re more than just a football and basketball school. In the second game, WVU walked away victorious again with a score of 6-5. Game 3 however, was won by the home team.

If the Mountaineers can beat Baylor again on Wednesday, they’ll face the winner of No. 1 Texas Tech and No. 8 Oklahoma State on Thursday, 4 p.m. (Central). If they happen to lose, they’ll play the loser of the 1/8 match-up at 9 a.m. (Central) Thursday. You can watch the opening game of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship here.
