The WVU basketball team laid on the gas pedal and held on tight for a win against Baylor on Saturday.

It was the second win in a row for West Virginia and the Mountaineers earned it for all 40 minutes. For WVU, this game was crucial not only for this season, but for the previous three in the Big 12 Conference. The Mountaineers had not defeated Baylor, until Saturday.

The 80-69 win over the Bears not only was the first in Morgantown for the Mountaineers, and it snapped a four-game winning streak for Baylor in the series. More importantly, the win was huge for this year’s implications.

The Mountaineers have now won two-consecutive games and moved to the top spot in the Big 12 Conference standings.

"“We played well,” said head coach Bob Huggins. “I thought our interior passing was very good. We spent a lot more time than normal on zone offense. Getting people open is not the problem, but getting the ball to them is because of their length. They do a great job of playing passing lanes and I thought our interior passing was good.”"

The team’s offense worked efficiently and the defense played strong enough to secure a double-digit victory.

Here’s a deeper look into how the Mountaineers knocked off the Bears.
