Dana Holgorsen adds Cullen Christian, who chooses WVU to be his final stop to wrap up his 3 school college career. Using his grad school year of eligibility Christian will join the Mountaineers in the summer. After completing his freshman year at Michigan, Christian came home to the Pittsburgh and joined the Panthers, to finish his undergraduate degree.
Christian, a 4 star recruit out of Penn Hills High School (PA), joins the Mountaineers who have made a habit of grabbing 5th year eligible transfer for their final year. In the past 3 years, Holgorsen has grabbed receiver Devon Brown (Wake Forest), running back Charles Sims (Houston), and Clint Trickett (Florida State) to fill needs in their respective position.
In the 3-3-5 scheme, Christian looks to fit in quite nicely in Tony Gibson’s new defense, that relies heavily on speedy, hard-hitting, defensive backs. Standing at 6-1, 190 Christian brings size and experience to a much needed boost in the WV secondary. Christian is West Virginia’s 2nd transfer from rival PITT in the past 2 years, as he joins running back Rushell Shell, who still has 3 years of eligibility left. West Virginia is clearly looking to plant themselves in Pennsylvania, adding another player from the Keystone State.
