Mountaineer Basketball Begins

On November 9th, at 7:30pm we can watch the men’s Mountaineer basketball team play Texas on FOX. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a good basketball game and let’s face it… college sports have something special about them that the pros just don’t have. It’s got a lot to do with young guys trying to leave a legacy at their alma mater as well as their eagerness to get each and every W they can under any circumstance. For this season of basketball, Bob Huggins and his staff looked for more versatility for their team. After last season being the first time in ten years that Mountaineer basketball wasn’t invited to to the NCAA tourney or the NIT, versatility could be a good thing. Coming off of a win last week against Fairmont State, head coach Huggins will be putting this versatility to the test against Texas. Another thing the staff has added to the team this year is more size. WVU has always been known as a team of small guys so maybe this change will be heard around the NCAA.

This size will help Huggins create more mismatches on the floor and add to the 1-3-1 and full court press. These options add more depth to the game. The new depth is what I look forward to seeing on the court this weekend.
