Mountaineers Win in Overtime

Today in Fort Worth, TCU did something they haven’t done in the modern era… lost three games in a row. Last year when the West Virginia Mountaineers played Texas Christian University, TCU won in two overtimes. Today, Clint Trickett and the Mountaineers found redemption with a 30-27 win.

Charles Sims had a season high 154 yards rushing in today’s game where the Mountaineers broke a three game losing streak. With today’s win, WVU keeps fighting for bowl eligibility. In OT, TCU had -5 yards as well as a 15 yard personal foul and an incomplete pass. Jaden Oberkrom tied the game near the end of the 4th quarter at 27 with a 45 yard field goal but failed a 62 yard attempt (his career longest is 52 yards).

WVU QB Clint Trickett went 25 of 41 for 267 yards that included two TD’s and two interceptions. The Mountaineers took advantage of several TCU turnovers to get the W. Charles Sims did not play a lot of the game which led to speculation that he may have been injured. There was also speculation that head coach Dana Holgotsen may substitute Paul Millard for Clint Trickett after Trickett threw two back-to-back interceptions but he chose to leave Trickett in the game.

WVU’s record so far this season is now 4-5 while TCU has 3-6.
