After the draft had passed on Saturday and other Mountaineers such as Joe Madsen and J.D. Woods signed deals, the time for two of West Virginia’s talented offensive lineman to sign deals came.

Former West Virginia Mountaineers guard Jeff Braun signed a rookie free agent deal with the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens. Braun comes to the Ravens looking to secure one of the roster spots along the interior offensive line. He announced the signing via twitter:

The Ravens offensive line experienced a little turnover this off-season with Matt Birk retiring. Outside of Marshall Yanda, there are no players locked into a starting position. The open competition should benefit Braun’s bid to make the 53 man roster this fall.

Braun’s partner at guard, Josh Jenkins, signed a rookie free agent deal with the Seattle Seahawks. Jenkins will have an even more difficult road to a roster spot with Seahawks than Braun will with the Ravens. Seattle has a wealth of young interior lineman on the roster that will provide a ton of competition for the young Mountaineer.

Both players will have an uphill battle with their new franchises, but with hard work and great discipline, they both have a chance to make it onto their respective 53 man rosters.
