It is well known that two of the most talented Mountaineers in program history are going to be on hand during the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, but few are aware that a third Mountaineer alumnus will be on hand during next Thursday’s event.
Both former Mountaineers teammates Geno Smith and Tavon Austin where invited to attend the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft in New York City next week. Smith and Austin are likely to be selected in the top half of the first round of the draft.
While many were already aware of Smith’s and Austin’s invitations to the opening night of the NFL draft, few knew that Geno Smith plans to bring his other favorite West Virginia wide receiving target, Stedman Bailey, as his guest to the first round.

The fact that Geno has elected to bring Bailey with him to the prime time event in NYC is a sign of the bond that Bailey and Smith have shared going back to their days under the Friday night lights of Miramar High School. By allowing Bailey to join him for the marquee event, Smith is giving his former Mountaineer teammate the opportunity to gain better national exposure.
The classy move by Smith also brings additional spotlight to the West Virginia Mountaineers football program, something that prospective 2014 recruits will surely take note of when watching the draft coverage.
You can see WVU stars Smith, Austin, and Bailey together one last time at the 2013 NFL Draft first round, set to air on ESPN April 25 at 8 PM.
