9: Alvoid Mays, Super Bowl XXVI
The former Mountaineers defensive back is probably best known for his hit single “Mountaineer Rap” with Major Harris. The other big hit of his career came in Super Bowl XXVI. Mays recorded his lone career sack against Jim Kelly of the Buffalo Bills.
Mays and the Redskins built a big 24-0 lead on the Bills before weathering a Buffalo comeback.
Washington held on for a 37-24 victory, winning the franchise’s third Super Bowl and sending the Buffalo Bills to their second consecutive Super Bowl loss.
