Barkley's Curse Benefits WVU in the Polls

Fourth time is the charm? Apparently not for Matt Barkley and the rest of the USC Trojans against the Stanford Cardinal. USC went into Palo Alto seeking their first win over Stanford since Matt Barkley stepped on campus. Even without the prodigal Andrew Luck, the Cardinal was still able to topple the mighty Trojans.

USC’s upset paved the way for West Virginia to ascend the polls once again. The Mountaineers gained a little traction in the polls with their 42-12 victory over the Dukes of JMU. As the teams wind down their non-conference play and begin conference play (some already have) there is going to be quite a bit of movement in the polls.

West Virginia moved from 9th to 8th in the AP Poll this week. In the Coaches’ Poll, WVU moved from 8th to 7th this week.

Of course, you are all wondering what happened to WVU in the one poll that matter most: the Fansided Top 25. The Mountaineers climbed to 7th in the latest poll. In case you were wondering, this is how I voted for the Top 10:

1. Alabama

2. LSU

3. Florida State

4. Oregon

5. Oklahoma

6. Georgia

7. West Virginia

8. South Carolina

9. Clemson

10. Stanford
