West Virginia Mountaineers vs. St. John's Red Storm

The West Virginia Mountaineers (15-5, 5-2 BE) take on the St. John’s Red Storm (8-11, 2-6 BE) tonight in Madison Square Garden. The Mountaineers are coming off an overtime win against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday. St. John’s has lost its last four games.

The Red Storm is led by the freshman duo of Moe Harkless and D’Angelo Harrison. Harkless is the team’s leading scorer with 15.6 PPG and the leading rebounder averaging 8.3. Harrison averages 15.3 PPG. As a team, the Red Storm is ranked 228th in the nation in PPG averaging 65.6. The team is also ranked 228th in the nation in field goal percentage at 42.2%.

Kevin Jones is continuing to lead the Mountaineers in PPG and RPG averaging 20.7 and 11.5, respectively. Truck Bryant struggled in the game against Cincinnati but still averages 17.5 PPG. The Mountaineers are ranked 41st in PPG with 75.6. The team has continued to improve shooting the ball. They are 60th in the nation in field goal percentage at 46.6%.

The Mountaineers should be able to handle the Red Storm without issue, but this is the type of game that can sneak up on a team, especially with Syracuse on the horizon. Huggins continues to prove that he is one of the best coaches in the country so he should have the team focused.
