UConn Preview

So, despite TCU “leaving” the Big East for the Big 12, WVU still have a football game to play this weekend. In fact, it’s on Saturday at noon against UConn, last year’s “conference champions.” After the jump is our usual preview.

Despite hiring a new coach, Paul Pasqualoni is essentially an older version of Randy Edsall. UConn does the same things they did under Edsall- Run the ball, punt, and hope to God the opposing offense screws up so they can kick field goals. It’s boring, it’s perdictable, and it wins 7-8 games when you play nobodies. UConn’s pass defense is atrocious, so look for Geno to throw, throw, then throw some more on Saturday for a ticked off Mountaineer team. 56-14

WVU 52, UConn 13. We will KILL them.

WVU rolls into conference play sitting at 4-1 and ranked 16th in the nation. UCONN comes in off a loss to Western Michigan. I will make this short and sweet since I’m writing from physical therapy. UCONN can have all the trick quarterbacks they want, and they will probably play them all. Will it matter?…

Not on this day. Geno will continue to put up numbers, the offensive line and running game will get cranked, and the stadium will be full of Gold and Blue.

WVU 48

Fans, it’s time to show up or shut up, plain and simple. Holgorsen has called us out (although I’ve been to every home game since 2006, so I’m not one who he’s calling out.) I went to last week’s Bowling Green game and stayed until after Country Roads was done being sang by the tough fans in attendance. Last week is when the real fans came out. Are you a real fan, or just a slapdick bandwagoner? Come out Saturday. According to the Weatherbug on my EVO, it’s supposed to be a HIGH of 79 and sunny. Get your ass out to Mountaineer Field, go to the game, be loud, stand, make it fun, and sing Country Roads after the win. NO LEAVING EARLY!

Anyway, I don’t see much out of Paul Pasqualoni’s team this year. I hated his Syracuse teams, but his UConn teams are just laughingstocks. The running game will be further established, but I think Geno has an awesome day in the air. UConn = just another slapdick team.

WVU- 52, UConn- 10
