Recently, I was asked to do a profile on a particular WVU football player. The first guy that came to my mind: Bruce Irvin.

I was really impressed with what he did last year as a 3rd down situation player… it seemed like he was ALWAYS getting a sack. In fact, let’s look at his stats from last year.

18 Solo Tackles, 3 Assisted Tackles for 21 total tackles.

14 sacks for 88 yards. 3 of those sacks (for 22 yards) came against Maryland.

Irvin was #2 in the nation in sacks.

Irvin was named second team all-BIG EAST by the BIG EAST coaches. He earned BIG EAST defensive player of the week honors for Maryland, and was selected WVU’s defensive player of the game for Maryland, USF, Louisville and Rutgers.

Led the BIG EAST Conference in sacks and tied for No. 4 in tackles for loss. He was a major contributor on a defense that ranked No. 2 in sacks and rushing defense and No. 3 in scoring defense and total defense.
