Way too early Top 25 and BCS Predictions

OK, so I decided to put together my first-ever Top 25 preseason rankings. I looked at several early lists, and decided where every team should go.

After the jump is the list, and a brief analysis…

1) Oklahoma Sooners (Big 12)
2) Alabama Crimson Tide (SEC)
3) Oregon Ducks (Pac 12)
4) LSU Tigers (SEC)
5) Stanford Cardinal (Pac 12)
6) Oklahoma State Cowboys (Big 12)
7) Boise State Broncos (MWC)
8 ) Texas A&M (Big 12)
9) Wisconsin Badgers (Big 10)
10) South Carolina Gamecocks (SEC)
11) Florida State Seminoles (ACC)
12) Ohio State Buckeyes (Big 10)
13) Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Ind.)
14) Nebraska Cornhuskers (Big 10)
15) TCU Horned Frogs (MWC)
16) Michigan State Spartans (Big 10)
17) Missouri Tigers (Big 12)
18) Virginia Tech Hokies (ACC)
19) Penn State Nittany Lions (Big 10)
20) West Virginia Mountaineers (Big East)
21) Mississippi State Bulldogs (SEC)
22) Auburn Tigers (SEC)
23) Florida Gators (SEC)
24) Arkansas Razorbacks (SEC)
25) Miami Hurricanes (ACC)

First off, WVU is still the only Big East team that can carry weight into the Top 25. Sorry, Pitt. Once again, you failed (as usual.)

Second, I intentionally dropped Auburn near the bottom of the Top 25 because they were pretty much a one-man wrecking crew with Cam Ca$h Money Newton at the helm. However, I feel like I underrated them because Gus Malzahn is a freakin offensive genius and will get Auburn back to competing for the SEC.

I still feel that Free Shoes U is ranked too high for an ACC team. Same for Virginia Tech… however, one of those teams will get the ACC’s Orange Bowl bid.

Now, let’s look at potential conference championship games (and/or champions) and where they’ll fall in the BCS

ACC Championship Game (which nobody will watch)
Virginia Tech vs. Florida State
Winner: Florida State

Big 10 Championship Game (Winner gets a dual-named trophy)
Nebraska (Legends Division winner) vs. Wisconsin (Leaders Division winner)
Winner:  Wisconsin

Big 12 Champion: Oklahoma State
No Championship game because Colorado and Nebraska skipped town.

Pac 12 Championship game
Oregon (North Division Winner) vs. Utah (South Division Winner)
Winner: Oregon

SEC Championship Game
LSU (Western Division Winner) vs. South Carolina (Eastern Division Winner)
Winner: LSU

Big East Champion: West Virginia
You really thought I was going to put someone else here?

BCS National Championship Game
LSU (SEC) vs. Oklahoma State (Big 12)
Winner: LSU

Rose Bowl
Wisconsin (Big 10) vs. Oregon (Pac 12)
Winner: Oregon

Orange Bowl
Florida State (ACC) vs. TCU (At-large)
Winner: TCU

Sugar Bowl
Alabama (SEC At-large) vs.  West Virginia (Big East At-Large)
Winner: West Virginia

Fiesta Bowl
Oklahoma (Big 12 At-large) vs. Boise State (At-large)
Winner: Oklahoma
