"MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Freshman quarterback Jeremy Johnson was not with the team Saturday for West Virginia’s 49-10 win against UNLV.Coach Bill Stewart said Johnson, from Kountze, Texas, is homesick and thinking about his future. Johnson left the team briefly in preseason practice for the same reason.“He’s done it before,” Stewart said. “He’s homesick. It’s the same thing as camp.”Johnson dressed and traveled for the first four games of the season, but did not play. Ironically, he left the team before a game in which he might have played. Starter Geno Smith took a seat in the third quarter after his third touchdown pass gave the Mountaineers (4-1) a 42-10 lead.Barry Brunetti, a freshman from Memphis, Tenn., entered for the second time this season.“I don’t know how to combat the mileage,” Stewart said of the distance between Johnson and his home oin the southeast corner of Texas. “That’s what we’re battling.”"

Now, if you remember, we were the FIRST ONES to report this back in August. Not WVMetroNews, not WV Illustrated, not the Daily Mail, not the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette; but, we were!

Now, it would appear that Jeremy Johnson could be making his way back to the Lone Star state as soon as, well, the fall semester is over.

Stay tuned as we keep an eye on this story, as well as a write-up of the game tomorrow.
