While all is right in Morgantown this weekend, even with questions about the O-Line, things weren’t going so well for former Mountaineers in the NFL… here’s the list of Mountaineers who were cut from their respective teams. We will keep this updated as hopefully more players get signed to at least a practice squad.
Maybe I should start a movement to get a UFL team here in Morgantown? Who’s with me!?
Carolina Panthers released Mortty Ivy
Washington Redskins released Selvish Capers (only to subsequently sign with the ‘Skins Practice Squad)
San Francisco 49ers released Jarrett Brown (only to subsequently sign with the 49ers Practice Squad)
Miami Dolphins released Pat White
Arizona Cardinals released Anthony Becht
Buffalo Bills released Corey McIntyre
Denver Broncos released Alric Arnett (as a Denver fan, this one personally hurt me, as I was ready to drop $80 on his jersey the minute he made the team. No way in hell I’m getting a Tim Tebow jersey until he proves himself.) On Labor Day, Arnett has signed with the Indianapolis Colts practice squad. At least he and Pat McAfee are back on the same team again.
UPDATE, 8:37pm: Seattle Seahawks have waived Owen Schmitt. Unbelievable.
Darius Reynaud (along with QB Sage Rosenfels) got traded from the Minnesota Vikings to the New York Giants for an undisclosed draft pick.
