Well, flush my scenario down the crapper. In the new one, Baylor would be left out in the cold. If anything, Baylor could go to Conference USA.
According to ESPN, a source there says that Colorado University already has a Pac-10 invite. They would be the 6th team instead of Baylor. Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Colorado would form the Pac-16 East division along with Arizona and Arizona State; while the old Pac-8 (UCLA, Cal, Stanford, USC, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington and Washington State) would form the Pac-16 West.
Looks like this could all go on west of the Mississippi River, and that the Big Eats, ACC, and SEC would take a “wait and see” attitude with potential realignment. We’ll keep up with this story as it unfolds.
