According to multiple news sources, touted QB recruit Barry Brunetti will be in Morgantown on Monday to prepare for the upcoming season.

Brunetti, along with fellow freshman Jeremy Johnson, is expected to compete with Geno Smith and Coley White for the QB job.

A story I read recently said that rookie Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow took time to work with Brunetti recently. I’ve previously mentioned on this blog that I am a Broncos fan, and I’ll be frank, this article does make me a bit giddy, knowing that Tebow took time to work with Brunetti. Hopefully, Tebow’s work ethic and attitude rubbed off on Brunetti; as well as his on-field skills.

Who do you think will be our starting QB this fall? Let me know. Personally, I think it’ll be Geno Smith, but as we all learned in 2005, it only takes one injury to alter the course of the season. Yes, I’m referring to the Louisville game where half of the crowd left and WVU came back and beat Louisville. There’s a video on YouTube detailing all the highlights from that game, but YouTube got their panties in a knot and disabled the audio due to stupid copyright laws. Watch it if you must, but fire up your iTunes and crank up some Guns N’ Roses while watching it. That was also the same season where Pitt coach Dave Wannstache was interviewed and said, “We just gotta run faster.” There will be plenty of Pitt hate on display during football and basketball, and it will not be pretty. It also won’t be for the faint of heart.

Anyway, this is still a dead period for WVU football and basketball. I should be keeping up with their baseball team, but I will not until their current coach, Greg Van Zant, is fired or resigns.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I’m actually fortunate enough (I think that’s the word) to attend a Mountaineer-themed wedding tomorrow… one of my best buds is getting married, so I gotta go, right?
